Last weekend at the Farmer's Market I found a new card table set up, "....and what are these?" I asked.
"Ghost peppers, they are $2 each. Then there's cayennes, thai cayenne cross, and jalapenos. Ummm a buck each.. and 50 cents each on the jalapenos."
"Give me 3 ghost peppers, a fistful each of the cayennes, and another fistful of the crosses."
"Okay... $5."
All but one Ghost Pepper went off to 'Tep along with some Hungarian? peppers I grew and a sack of roasted green chiles and some seeds. He'll send me heirloom apples in exchange in the fall.
Today I made Ghost Pepper Salsa with my heirloom tomatoes.
Hot, very hot for salsa, but not nauseating. Which is nice.
I'm sure Wendy will like it when she gets back.

Date: 2011-08-29 05:02 pm (UTC)i found a vendor at the farmer's market that sells ground ghost pepper, and that stuff is awesome. you can sprinkle a tiny amount on anything and make it awesome without making it taste like sauce. i like to add it to doritos. and spinach salad.
