I asked [livejournal.com profile] randomdreams to make me a stereoscope slide for the tripod so I can take better stereoscope pictures. The camera is mounted at one point slightly to the left of the tripod, you take the picture, then slide it over so that the second picture is slightly to the right. http://www.stereoscopy.com/jasper/slide-bars.html Exact same point every time. I wanted a level mounted on it too. These retail for $50-$200, but I have a mad scientist on my payroll* for a reason.

He comes back with a prototype: "This slide can withstand an 800lb load and can take 5 axis' of stress loading! Look at it glide!"
I'm freaking shocked it doesn't have laser beams to guide alignment.
Note to self: request laser guidance system.

I laugh at stereoscopy.com's "heavy duty."

*he is paid in noms. I make the very best noms.
