Today at the grocery store I found 2 lobster tails for $7 (40% off for those of you who live near an ocean).
I've never made lobster tails. I asked [livejournal.com profile] randomdreams if he'd eat them. "Ehhhh... I'm not too into lobster." I'm not really into lobster either (we live in Denver!) but wanted to try.

Asparagus was $1 a lb. I had potatoes and a nub of English cheddar.
I sliced the potatoes and put them into ramekins with cream, milk, four and cheddar. I put them into the toaster oven set on "bake" at 400 degrees for 30m.

Once I took the tails out of the fridge it was impossible to keep Lillian out of the kitchen. She's a seafood dog.

I split the tails and put them on a baking sheet, basted them in butter, paprika (sweet and smoked), s&p; and since I never cook seafood, shoved them under the broiler with a prayer to Poseidon.
(your plates go on the bottom rack in the oven. Pre-heat your plates!)

Steamed the asparagus.

It was all perfect and we devoured it all without pause. I'll keep an eye out for the sale lobster in the future or see what the asian market sells them for. But really, a lobster dinner for less than $5 a person.

EDIT: [livejournal.com profile] randomdreams is making chocolate chip cookies for dessert!
