THAT'S IT KITCHEN, I AM DONE WITH YOU!

Remember when you used to go out on Saturday nights? Back before video phones? But then people started taking videos of you and they ended up youtube and now you stay home and yell at the Kitchenaid.

------------

The burritos ended up fine. Good even. I taught John how to make Spanish Rice.

--------

So then I thought cookies sounded nice and still have Martha Stewart's Cookie Book and the Chocolate Waffle Cookies looked easy and good:
http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/chocolate-waffle-cookies

I made half a batch because it says it makes 4 dozen and I don't need 4 dozen cookies.
Of that half batch, supposedly 2 dozen? I got one whole cookie.

The first 4 burned and fell apart. The second 4 just fell apart. The third set of four I got one whole cookie. And then I was out of batter.
So I mooshed all the cookie bits into a ball (like you used to with wonderbread) and ate that, saving the one whole cookie for John.

---------

The Kichenaid barely survived this mess. After 2 years my beaters are chipping (yes, Uncle Mark put them in the dishwasher). John ordered me a normal new one, a burnished one, and one of those after market finned beaters. The "burnished" one oxidized right away. "Send it back." The first finned one didn't fit, the second finned one makes my Kitchenaid make this horrible noise (but it mixed great!), and the normal one worked fine. The Kitchenaid clearly broke something and will need to spend time in the Hut.
My mother got it for me "Refurbished" and it's never been quite right.

----------

Perhaps I should give up cookies?

I still go out on Saturday nights. Well, this past week I went out Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday night instead, but it's the same in principle.

maybe that martha recipe was just shiteous - sometimes even the most seemingly reliable recipe sources suck.

make these:

It was me. Everyone else on her website got it right.

Do not give up cookies. However, you should give up using a refurbished kitchenaid. Buying new is no guarantee that what you get will be defect-free (mine wasn't), but it does guarantee you can just call them and send it back and get a replacement all via UPS (which is what I did).

Also, remember we are at a high altitude. Most of the time, cookie recipes don't care, but some recipes are more sensitive than others.

If anyone asks, "Oh hey, I see you registered for shrubbery and masking tape, but are there any appliances you need?" Then I can say, "Yes! A non-refurbished Kitchenaid!"

Until then it goes it the pile of things that might be replaced should I ever not have to spend $400 a month on student loans for a degree that allows me to work a job that pays less than before I went to school. :)

Or I find one at an Estate Sale.
