One of
randomdreams's co-worker's wife just put her foot down, "Now that we have children, no more Mountaineering." He's done the Alps and the Himalayas.
I'm now the proud owner of a Grivel ice axe and a pair of La Sportiva Mountaineering boots (with enough space to fit hot packs and wool socks)! These are much lighter than my previous boots and the axe is very light as well.
(yes
skazat you can borrow them)
Next time it ices over outside I'll don my crampons and run about.
I fell in love with glaciers in Iceland.
I can't get very cold but short trips would be great.

Date: 2011-01-22 02:49 pm (UTC)And this is the reason Corey and I do not plan to have children. We like kids just fine, and we choose not to limit our own life adventures because we have kids. Sure, sure, there's those people that say you can still do all the same things, etc., etc. but I'm telling you there's no way I could tote a baby/child around safely on my scooter. And taking random weekend trips to other states to see concerts? Probably not. Etc., etc.
Well, his loss is your gain! :)
