Today I met with the career services center at Regis to discuss why I have been job hunting for a year without even an interview.
She says my resume is perfect.
My suit is perfect.
I just need luck, and to keep hope up, and a new economy.

You probably might already know this.. But most big companies screen any incoming resumes. They go through keyword screeners, they go through skills screeners, they go through education screeners, etc.

Depending on the company, and the job - company A might not want you to have too many years of education, certificates, degree(s), so a semi-automated education screener might make sure your resume never gets to human eyes. company B might want 20 keywords to match their screener, someone else has a resume which has craftily placed 100 keywords somehow in the resume and match all 20 because of the overuse, and yours only matches 10, your resume may never make it to human eyes.

Anyway, if this lady didn't mention anything about having 5 or 10 different versions of your resume, she may not have been all that helpful. Unless, that is, you're only applying for one very specific type of job or job title at a very very similar set of companies.

Oh, and the new economy would help a lot too.

Most places I've applied at are tiny non-profits. I'm not looking for a cube job at a big company. You possibly missed that the last job I applied for included the responsibility of gathering heirloom chicken eggs before calling donors or designing materials.
Yes, we did discuss many different versions of resumes and how to cater them to different companies.

Well, at least Uncle Mark isn't the only one. I have an inkling that your suit and resume are a little more up-to-date, though.
