DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU ARE
gows!
Everyone one else should come see what I made today
gows birthday is coming up soon. Since she always busts hands for my birthday, I wanted to make her something really neat:
Copper Pasties.
It's been almost 10 years since I've made anything out of copper, but it all came back really fast.
I picked a sheet of copper out of a pile in the Man Hut, and
randomdreams drilled a 2" hole in some boards so I could free hammer it out.
It took about 45 minutes to discuss how to make it and build the clamp/form.
10 minutes each nipple to hammer out.
45 minutes of sanding.
Then they went into the roller for polishing.
The first nipple was a practice, I broke through, but I expected to.

Here's the first broken one, and the second one, which was perfect.

I warmed the correct one up, took it inside, and made sure it covered properly and looked good.
I made a third to match the second. Got John to trim the edges round. Then I sanded and filed them smooth.
They went into the tumbler.
I clear-coated the fronts to prevent fingerprints, oxidation, etc.
Here's the finished pasties.

If I make another pair, I'll get john to fix the buffing wheel so I won't have to sand them. I could probably make a pair in 40 minutes.
