Hat and books

threemeninaboatA week ago I was watering a plant in a ladies office, she had a hat on her desk. "I LOVE your hat!...Where did you get it?"
"I'm glad you like it! I made it."
"Can I pay you to make me one?"
"No, you are so good with my plant, I'll just make you one."
On Friday she gave it to me. It's maroon and forest green felt with a bow hat band. VERY 1920's. I haven't taken it off yet.
1) The Urban Adventure Handbook by Alan S. North, 148 pgs
Wall climbing and Urban Exploration.
2) The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman, 351 pgs
Armored Bears!!!
3) The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman, 288 pgs
...and the zeppelins.
4) The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman, 465 pgs
Boy, the Lord Asrial character has so much potential. What a stupid ending. It was the book of potential ending up stupid.
5) Toothpaste for Dinner by Drew, 221 pgs
Snarky.
6) Stuck in the Middle: Seventeen Comics from an Unpleasant Age, edited by Ariel Schrag, 210 pgs.
So often the question arises, "What the hell do I get a 12 year old kid for *holiday*?!" This book. I so wanted Renee French to do one, but then you couldn't show it to kids. Phoebe Gloeckner already wrote that book.
7) Creating Your Dream Kitchen by Susan Breen, 156 pgs
More of a design book than a instructional manual. Not terribly ugly kitchens.
8) A Treehouse of Your Own by John Harris, 140 pgs
ZOUNDS! So damn cool. Instructional and step by step, as well as design.
9) Contemporary Asian Bathrooms by Chami Jotisalikorn, 128 pgs
The most elegant bathrooms I have ever seen.
10) Design and Decorate Bathrooms by Lesley Taylor, 77 pgs
Yeah, if you want an ugly bathroom.
11) Bathrooms by Good Idea Designs, 333pgs
Goddamn, those are some amazing bathrooms. Combine this one with the Asian Bathrooms and you've got yourself some new ideas.
12) Living Large in Small Spaces: Expressing personal style in 100 to 1,000 square feet.
"How to jam your ugly crap into your ugly apartment." Except for the gay guys, they have nice apartments.
13) HGTV Baths, 186 pgs
Ehhhh...Nice tile work?
14) Better Homes and Gardens Baths, 111pgs
Wins prize for ugliest bathrooms. "Sailboat" theme, "Shell" theme, enough said.
