In Colorado there's always big media around CU being a "dry" school. Dry frats, dry parties, etc. They don't even sell beer at concerts in the events centers. Since Paulo was telling me about how everyone hated the "Virgin" tour because colleges (DU in this instance) don't provide beer in the green room, I assumed all universities were dry.

My Jesuit University is not dry. My teacher encouraged us to bring wine to the last night of class to toast completion. Word has it there was a bar in the Student Center until two years ago. Yet somehow I've never seen students passed out on the lawn. I've HEARD about it, but that happens at any college. I ought to bring my flask this evening, or a bottle to share.

The White Stripes- Icky Thump
Boy, this album isn't any fun at all. Okay, some great lyrics, but the songs would be great sung by someone else.

Who needs self-discipline if you can have a nanny state instead?

When I used to teach at a private catholic school we would have alcohol at every function, even if it was at the school. However the public schools you can't even have beer at the road races (where beer is a staple). The Catholics definitely place drinking high on their agenda.

And thanks for the White Stripes critique, makes me feel a little better about not going to Bonnaroo because they were the main group I wanted to see. (besides Regina Spektor)
