(no subject)

Things found on the clearance rack at the grocery store today:
-Ines Rosales Tortas de Aceite (from Seville, Spain. each torta is individually wrapped in wax paper proclaiming its authenticity)
-Black Truffle Butter (ingredients: black truffles, butter) (can I freeze this?)
-Armenian Tea Rose Petal Preserves (from Armenia. the jar was wrapped in magenta handmade paper and tied with jute string)
-Green chili tamales.
-Lots of cheeses.

The tortas are amazing. It's like a cross between an elephant ear pastry and a pizzelle.
I ate the rose petal preserves with a spoon. Sooooo goood. It will be awesome in champagne. I'll have to make my own this summer.

Speaking of which. I'm redoing the front yard and got a whole bunch of rose bushes to put in.

Mud

I'm out back watering my newly planted currant bush and grape vine (maybe this one will take) when a small child approaches me from the other side of the fence in Frank's (remember the Church of Frank?) yard.
"Hello neighbor, how are you today?"
"Fine. My name is manintheboat and I am 30 years old. How old are you and what is your name?"
"My name is Alyssa and I am 4. Are you making mud?"
"Oh yes. Mud making is the very best of things to do."
"We don't stomp in it."
"Yes we do!" *stomps around in the mud*
"Mud is gross."
"No it isn't. All things in the whole world come from mud. Like vegetables. Have you ever had any vegetables?"
"No."
"Not even a carrot?"
"No."
"Then what do you eat?"
"McDonalds."
"You win that one, no actual food there. Do you eat any other food?"
"Pho." *her brother interrupts, "She doesn't know what Pho is."
"I've had Pho."
"Do you eat Pho every day?"
"Nope."
"Why not?"
"That's a pretty good question. I don't know. I have to go water my tulips now. See you later."
"BYE!!!"
