Thursday, January 13th, 2011 05:22 pmThanks guys.
I went for a long walk in the sun and talked to
gows, which helped a little. I hoped to find something cute at the thrift store while dropping off other things, but no dice. The library had a few things for me, and I got a big book of soups and Martha Stewart's Cupcakes.
Not much help mood wise, but I washed the floors too.
-----------
Splendid Soups by James Patterson (600 pages!) has a slow-cooked broccoli and garlic soup recipe. Lovely sounding, but not hearty enough for a main dish. What I did (amounts are based on what I had):
Broccoli, Beans, and Barley Soup
2 Qts Chicken stock (I roasted a chicken last week)
2 lbs Broccoli
1/2 C Olive Oil
1 C White Beans (239 beans)
1/4 C Barley
Juice of 1/2 lemon
2 cloves of garlic diced
1t Thyme
S&P, grated parm, goes in last
Low simmer, 1h.
It might need water as the barley cooks and the beans finish. As of now it smells amazing.
