(no subject)

Thanks guys.

I went for a long walk in the sun and talked to [livejournal.com profile] gows, which helped a little. I hoped to find something cute at the thrift store while dropping off other things, but no dice. The library had a few things for me, and I got a big book of soups and Martha Stewart's Cupcakes.
Not much help mood wise, but I washed the floors too.

-----------

Splendid Soups by James Patterson (600 pages!) has a slow-cooked broccoli and garlic soup recipe. Lovely sounding, but not hearty enough for a main dish. What I did (amounts are based on what I had):

Broccoli, Beans, and Barley Soup

2 Qts Chicken stock (I roasted a chicken last week)
2 lbs Broccoli
1/2 C Olive Oil
1 C White Beans (239 beans)
1/4 C Barley
Juice of 1/2 lemon
2 cloves of garlic diced
1t Thyme

S&P, grated parm, goes in last

Low simmer, 1h.

It might need water as the barley cooks and the beans finish. As of now it smells amazing.

9 out of 10 times it's an electric razor

Um. I know it's just probably contents settling or whatever. But this 35lb box John ordered just arrived from UPS, and it's making shuffling noises. I think it's moving.

SMELLS BAAAD

John found this dog in the road yesterday:

The photo does not reflect that this dog a) weights well over 100 lbs b) smells like stinky dog, very.

We thought she belonged to the people down the street as we have seen large furry objects that go *HOOF* through the slots in the fence. They were gone last night, but were there this morning. She came over and got her dog. The dogs name is Midnight, it's a female, the neighbors forgot to lock the gate. She's home safe now.
