Good Books of March 2018 (dude WTF with these horrorshow books this month)

L'Appart: The Delights and Disasters of Making My Paris Home. The most horrifying home remodel book I've ever read. SPOILER THERE ARE NO DELIGHTS!

River of Teeth. It's a Western with Hippos. It's short, you should read it. Don't expect more.

By This Shall You Know Him. Bleak and beautiful and upsetting. There's no reason to keep on living.

The Best We Could Do. Grim and beautiful.

The Monk of Mokha. Yemen.

Everything Is Teeth. Five Stars. Sharks. Expect and receive more than you deserve.

The Nordic Cookbook. Tacopaj.

I have enjoyed some of Liebovitz's other writing, so I've been mildly curious about L'Appart. But sounds like you might recommend against it?

Okay, good to know! I mean, I sorta gathered the "horrifying," just not the extent of it, I suppose!

I really enjoyed "River of Teeth" and it's up for a Hugo (Best Novella I think?). Hippos!

Speaking of rivers and teeth, one of my go-to casual conversation starters is "Who would win in a fight, a hippo or an alligator?

I can't see any way that the hippo wouldn't just crush it.
