The Miniaturist by Jessi Burton sucks. I gave it 100 pages too many.
spoilers, not that you want to read it anyway.
1) The Preface is unintelligible.
2) It follows the Romance Novel formula. *gag*
3) Who gives his new wife a dollhouse as a wedding present?
4) Nothing happens in 100 pages.

This has been on my 'possibly' list for a while, mostly because I love the time period and Amsterdam, but the reviews are pretty bleah. Good to know, unfortunately.

I read it to the end. I found a few good parts, managed to swerve around the Romance Novel parts, and liked seeing the real dollhouse. I don't recommend it either.
