[livejournal.com profile] randomdreams mom often relays stories of her crying because RandomDad, in the time before cell phones, was often back late returning from a trip and she figured he was dead in a ditch.

[livejournal.com profile] skazat left on a 2-3 day bike ride last Monday. Due to weather he's still out there. And back in the day you'd go hunt someone down if they had not returned on time.
I don't have to wonder where he is. I know exactly where he is. He has a Spot. A little GPS that sends out his location every 10 minutes. Every few hours it emails me saying, "I'm okay." (I suppose there's also a "come get me" button).

Tomorrow morning he will summit Mt Evans on a bike. Go [livejournal.com profile] skazat!
And I'll know when to get the corned bison going in the crock pot.

There he goes!

Oh, he's doing Pikes Peak and Mt. Evans back to back. He's an animal.

They are totally worth it in lowering stress levels alone.

Wow, that's very cool! I showed it to Debbie when she came over -- she wants me to have one of those. :-)

They are that cool.

On his first Tour Divide the batteries had died for a few days and I freaked out. He called in saying they were expensive (he was running them for a month) and he didn't feel they were worth replacing. I said, "I will always pay for more spot batteries." He's kept them up ever since.
