(no subject)

I've reached the point where the word "wedding" no longer induces a panic attack. Go me.

I've been putting off my mother for months because of this: "We need to talk about dresses..food.. John.. teeth whitening..."
"Can I call you back? I can't breathe and the room is getting really small."

Calling back took 7 months.

When I called Mom this morning and told her I was ready to go pattern and fabric shopping, she dropped everything and even offered to buy lunch.
Handcock is having a patterns sale and my friend works at Denver Fabrics and could hook us up with her 40% employee discount if need be.

We found the PERFECT pattern for a MOB gown. She will look stunning:

And a dark teal satin in the discount bin at Denver Fabrics for $3.75 yd. Astonishing.

We found nothing for me. But she's more difficult to please. I'd wear a burlap sack.

And I haven't told John yet but Mom decided that it is super important that our very old friend wants to perform a Navajo wedding ceremony.
I guess to her it doesn't matter that none of us are Navajo.
If it makes her happy.

Not really much of a reference: the Navajo use(d) ponies and cobs a lot for moving stuff around, often in preference to horses, because they're easier keepers.

Ah. I'll take light aircraft, then. Even easier keepers, and much faster. :)
