I was looking at a cooking magazine the other day and they featured "Chili Mac." Now, I didn't know it is called "Chili Mac," because in my house growing up, and my Grandma's house, it was called "Johnny Smart." Really.
Chili Mac is macaroni, ground meat, beans, tomatoes, spices... you get it. You've probably had it. What was it called when you were growing up?
Uncle Mark says that in the Military it is called Chili Mac and soldiers freaking love it.
randomdreams says his mom never made it, she says she never made it but her mother did and she called it Chili Boo.
gows has the most bananas contributions to Chili Mac. Make yourself some chicken ramen and add a can of chicken chili. Yeah, I was horrified. Almost as bad was her box of mac and cheese and then you add a can of chili.
Me, I use ground buffalo.

Further research also calls it American Chop Suey, Johnny Marzetti, Beefaroni, Chuckwagon, and Dead Dog, and it has been found in cookbooks as far back as 1918.
