Yesterday mom gave me a few pounds of ham. I love ham and rarely get it at home since John doesn't eat pork. I made 7 pints of Ham and Great Northern Bean soup.
Today at the grocery store I found a 10 pound ham for $6. More soup! I made 2 pounds into Ham and Split Pea Soup. Cut the rest in half and offered it to
gows. She always likes a break from eating goat or rabbit. I diced and froze the rest.
We cleaned out the deep freezer. This is a freezer big enough to hold 2 bodies. At the bottom we found a bag labeled "goat hearts", another labeled "pork chops", a slab of bacon, and about a pound of pork belly. These meats were badly freezer burned and surely from when Uncle Mark lived here. Rather than throwing it away I put them in the stock pot and made soup for the dog. Soup FOR the dog, not soup OF the dog.
