Bison and Broccoli
Sunday, March 27th, 2011 08:35 pmAfter a 2 hour bike ride, washing the dog, cleaning the bathroom, washing the sheets, and cleaning the bunny's house; I was tired. There was still the kitchen to clean and dinner to make.
John keeps buying broccoli. I feel horrible saying, "Put it back, we have many broccoli at home."
I found a half pound of Bison Top Sirloin in the freezer. 1/4 pound of bison per person with veggies and rice is plenty.
Rooting around for recipes I found Emeril's Beef and Broccoli
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/stir-fried-beef-and-broccoli-recipe/index.html
I liked the look of his over other recipes for a few reasons which I think made this dish:
-Hoisin Sauce is soooo good.
-Orange Blossom Honey. I ran out last week, but it's pretty amazing if you find it (I get it in a big bottle from Pacific Ocean Market).
Like 'Tep over there, I lack Back Vinegar and used Rice Vinegar. I also added sesame seeds. The User Reviews say to cut back on the ginger. These people are cray cray; double the ginger, garlic, and chili.
And if you have a big wok, this all goes together in 15 minutes.
This could easily be a Vegetarian dish, replace the meat with veggies like baby corn, snow peas, bamboo shoots, asparagus, onions.....
