If the glass is full...
Sunday, July 12th, 2009 09:14 pmSince I now have a drinking buddy, Uncle Mark and I have instituted "Cocktail Hour." We are trying a different cocktail every night we have dinner. One cocktail, not getting hammered.
This is going along with cleaning the basement up, as something must be done with all that booze downstairs.
The Gemini from Martha Stewart (it's really good!)
Makes 2.
* 4 ounces fresh grapefruit juice, strained
* 3 ounces St-Germain liqueur
* 2 ounces vodka
* Ice cubes
* Prosecco
* 2 grapefruit-rind twists
Directions
1. Mix grapefruit juice, St-Germain, vodka, and ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into 2 chilled glasses. Top with Prosecco.
2. Serve each with a grapefruit twist.
The other night was a Dark and Stormy
Dark Rum, Ginger Beer, Lime juice
Tonight is a Greyhound (for Mark Travis)
Grapefruit Juice and Vodka
We have a few books, but if you have favorite cocktail ideas, please share.

I know, I talk a lot about squash
Sunday, July 12th, 2009 10:22 pmI have just chopped my Banana Squash. I froze it.
I bought it back in October, and it sat in the corner of the kitchen until earlier this week when it showed signs of "going." My banana squash was only about 2' long and 6lbs, they get to be over 6' long and much heavier than I can carry, but this was the smallest one I could find. The skin was sort of pinky-orangey and it smells like a cantaloupe but is like a soft pumpkin. I will make souffle, soup, and indian food.
I saved some seeds if you would like some to start next year.
