I LOVED, "In the Garden of Good and Evil" but was kind scared to pick up this one. While unlike its predecessor, it's not funny, it is still full of amazing characters that you feel you know. And I love Italy. This was great.

We just completed Alton Brown's Burnt Peach Ice Cream
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/burned-peach-ice-cream-recipe2/index.html

Only I used 3c of local dairy-grade cream. Not that half-and-half shenanigans they sell in the grocery store claiming to be whipping cream.
And 4 Palisade peaches did not fit in the ice cream maker. [livejournal.com profile] crossfire_, we've had Palisade peaches at the 44th and Ward produce stand for a couple of weeks. Hatch chilies showed up week before last.
I did burn the peaches on the grill.

So the ice cream came out thick enough to choke a horse. Very very rich, and John thinks it's good. I don't like fruit ice creams so my opinion is out.

[livejournal.com profile] okterok is doing well. All doped up, but vertical and not wishing for death. We took her soup in a bread bowl and prosecco and granola and comic books. That should hold her for a few days.

IUD's are a bad idea.
