Home now.

We had long discussions about the future. We hope it involves more naps and solar panels and beating the man. We decided that keeping the house nearly spotless was a big priority in our lives, and we really prefer to be alone with each other rather than having children. Another dog, should one show up, would be welcome.

In Seattle we managed to get much of the Christmas shopping done.

Bought this Flight suit at Archie McPhees for $50:

Looks kinda stupid on men, but waaayyyy hot on me.

Salt Spring Island, Canada:
On the ferry to Salt Spring I spotted an author gentleman I'd met before, but wasn't positive. Driving through the island we found Nick Bantock's (author of Griffin and Sabine) studio with a red mini parked out front and the door open. We stopped and I expected to see an intern manning a desk, but found Nick working with some rubber stamps. I re-introduced myself and explained that we'd met in Denver at the Tattered Cover. He gave us a few minutes to look at the art before he put down his tools and talked at length about Denver, the Tattered Cover (his third, or second favorite bookstore ever), and the strange people in Denver (the "what is your favorite meat?" question. Answer, which I even remembered, "nubile flesh"). We talked about mummies, colors, perceptions, senses, and books for about half an hour. He invited us back the next day at 10 if we had time. We asked if he had any recommendations for a place to stay and we showed up at The Roost right as they were coming and going. She thew us the keys without signing anything and asked us to leave a check on the table in the morning. We got a huge room, with a big squishey bed. Dinner was at Tree House, a hobbit-like structure built under an apple tree with outdoor seating and a blues band on a tiny stage. Very Alice in Wonderland. We slept for 11 hours.
We loved BC.

I found a fabulously tasty bottle of Italian bubbly a few weeks ago. I don't write about wine often because it's rare that I find anything I really love.

This is a happy, bubbly, sweet, sitting on the porch in the summer kind of wine. I got it for $6 a bottle, and bought a case today.

It's called Zonin Primo Amore Juliet. There's a Romeo too, but I haven't tried it yet.
