The lead singer of the San Francisco band Deadweight, Benjamin Barnes, threw himself in front of a train last night. As of an hour ago he was still alive in the hospital.

Though I've never met Ben, we share many friends. I've heard many stories and keep his albums at hand. I've inquired on his health many times over the years, the answers never improved, it was a call I expected to get some day.
