I see and raise
Monday, January 15th, 2007 10:02 pmLook, I'll get to reading some smut here soon. I'm just really into houses right now and no great porn has surfaced recently so I haven't read any. I don't really keep track of when I read the 1964 Playboys I find under grand dads work bench anyway.
6) Making a Home; Housekeeping for Real Life by Better Homes and Gardens, 368 pgs
Oh good, now I know how to hire help.Truly horrible, with no actual great housekeeping tips. I think we wanted different things from each other. I just want to know how to bleach my caulk.
7) Exteriors by Inger McCabe Elliott, 159 pgs
Different color combinations for the exteriors of homes. Yellow doors, red shutters, etc.
8) Dream Backyards by The Family Handyman Magazine, 250 pgs
Weak in the creative landscaping department. Boring.
9) The Best American Comics 2006, edited by Harvey Pekar, 294 pgs
When I get book gift certificates for Christmas, first I look for books for other people, then books for my art and finally, if there's any money left, something for me. This was one of my books this year. It's wonderful. I loved seeing what the old guys are up to (R. Crumb, Chris Ware) and I got to discover new artists and characters and sorrows and joys.
10) Tacky The Penguin by Helen Lester, 32 pgs
HOW MANY TOES DOES A FISH HAVE? I WONDER! OH I WONDER!
11) Why Are You Doing This? by Jason, 46 pgs
Picking up a graphic novel by Jason is setting yourself up for heartache. You feel like one of your friends has just died.
12) ReadyMade: How to make (almost) everything, 204 pgs
While a great many nifty things can possibly be made from refuse, Tide bottle coat racks and beer can room dividers are not attractive nor nifty. Ugly.
13) Arkham Asylum: Living Hell by lots of people, 137 pgs
Too confusing, with the demons and all that.
14) The Sandman Presents: Taller Tales by lots of people, 126 pgs
Pumpkinhead didn't need his own story, especially one that bad. Thessaly was kinda fun.
15) Lucifer: Inferno, 165 pgs
I should read this one in order.
16) 1001 Hints and Tips for your garden by Readers Digest, 414 pgs.
I learned so much! I need to buy this book.
17) House Thinking: A room-by-Room Look at How We Live by Winifred Gallagher, I only read 100 pgs in.
Dames. Learn to write.
18) The Best American Travel Writing 2006 edited by Tim Cahill, 327 pgs
Libya! Russia! China! Japan! Boats! Shipwrecks! Undiscovered peoples! Deserts! David Sedaris! Oh how I love this kind of thing. Except PJ O'Rourke- He hasn't written any decent since "Holidays in Hell."
