Elk
The lovely and forgiving
gows left an elk roast in my deep freezer a few months ago.
I defrosted it and invited
ziz and his dame over for dinner.
In the wee hours of that day I put the elk in the slow cooker and covered it with water. I added a bag of frozen mushrooms, a glug of sherry, and lots of pepper.
I made a large pot of jasmine rice.
When I got home from work I took some of the elk juice and made gravy. I made cranberry blueberry rice pudding with the rice, mashed some potatoes, and sauteed the rest of the Yugoslavian Finger Squash with asparagus, lemon, and tarragon.
A really lovely meal and we got to catch up with the Ziz'z.
1 leftover pint of elk juice got poured over some leftover rice as an amazing soup for lunch today. A bit more got added to pasta sauce for dinner. I'm sure the rest will go sometime soon.
