Smuggler's Cove: Exotic Cocktails, Rum, and the Cult of Tiki. If you like rum, you NEED this book. This would also make a great Christmas etc present for anyone you know who likes rum. All the stars!

The Graphic Canon, Vol. 1-3 SO BEAUTIFUL!!!

The Girls of Atomic City: The Untold Story of the Women Who Helped Win World War II. Excellent idea, very interesting, but poorly written.

The Dragon Behind the Glass: A True Story of Power, Obsession, and the World’s Most Coveted Fish. They've had these fish at one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants on town since I was tiny. Very good book, loved the story.

Listen, Slowly. Liked.

The Small Backs of Children. I love these sentences.

Kitchens of the Great Midwest. This was so adorable I couldn't not like it.

The Arab of the Future: A Childhood in the Middle East, 1978-1984: A Graphic Memoir. I really could not figure out why the dad kept lugging them back to the Middle East, and why his mom put up with that shit.

Thank you!

My favorites this month:
Influence (fascinating non-fiction about how people get other people to comply with their requests)
Grit (non-fiction about how working hard and passionately gets you places)
Uprooted (fantasy about magic and dark fairy tales)
This is where I leave you (a sort-of dysfunctional family sits shiva for the father - I liked it a lot more than I expected to)
